These close encounters will leave you breathless. You will also get close to other diverse African wildlife, beautiful landscapes and amazing cultures.

Day 1: Entebbe - Kampala(Uganda safaris & tours)

You will be met and greeted at the Entebbe International Airport by a Uganda Adventure Safari representative. This representative will warmly welcome you and facilitate a seamless transfer through immigration. You will then be transferred to your hotel for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 2: Kampala - Murchison Falls National Park(Uganda safaris & tours)

After an early morning breakfast, you will drive northwest to Murchison Falls National Park via the Rhino Sanctuary, where you will have the opportunity to track rhinos. There are fifteen rhinos here that were reintroduced after poaching drove them to extinction in the 1970s. A local ranger guide will lead you on foot for about 1.5 hours to an up-close encounter with the rhinos. You will then make your way to Masindi Town for lunch and then continue to your lodge at Murchison Falls.

Day 3: Murchison Falls National Park(Uganda safaris & tours)

Arise early in the morning for your game drive on the northern bank of the Nile River. Your open-roof vehicle will give you an excellent opportunity to view and photograph the diverse wildlife.

After lunch you will go on a boat cruise up the Victoria Nile the base of the falls, stopping just a few meters from the “Devi’s Cauldron”. You will marvel at the schools of hippos and crocodiles that call this place home. Across the 17km stretch you may see elephants, waterbuck and Uganda Kob. There are also a large number of birds, including the goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork.

After taking some photographs of Muchison Falls you may choose to see hike to the top, where you will have amazing views of the falls below! See where the world’s longest river squeezes through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment to plunge into a frothing pol 43m below.

Day 4: Murchison Falls - Kibale Forest National Park(Uganda safaris & tours)

After breakfast you will begin your journey to Kibale Forest National Park. Drive south via Hoima to Fort Portal through verdant countryside, passing through traditional homesteads, farms and tea estates. Stop for lunch en route and arrive in the lodge in the late afternoon. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at the lodge.

Day 5: Kibale Forest National Park(Uganda safaris & tours)

After breakfast you will transfer to the starting point of your chimpanzee tracking experience in Kibale Forest National Park. This park is reputed to have the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa. The most famous primate here is the chimpanzee, which is also man’s closest relative. Kibale’s 1,450 chimpanzees represent the largest population of this endangered primate in Uganda.

Kibale is also a home to the rare I’Hoest’s monkey, the black and white colobus, blue monkey, grey cheeked mangabey, red tailed monkey and olive baboon – just to name a few! You will enjoy a guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest in search of all these primates. Although chimp sightings are not guaranteed, visitors stand a good chance of hearing and seeing our distant cousins as they groom and bond with each another.

Day 6: Kibale Forest - Queen Elizabeth National Park(Uganda safaris & tours)

After breakfast you will make your way to Queen Elizabeth National Park along the mystical Rwenzori Mountain range. Your expert driver-guide will point out animals as we make our way into the park. Upon arriving at the lodge you will enjoy a hot lunch and then take a unique two-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. This cruise takes you through a high concertation of hippos and offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. The prolific bird life is colorful and stupendous!

Day 7: Queen Elizabeth National Park(Uganda safaris & tours)

Queen Elizabeth National Park’s diverse eco-system of grassy plains, tropical forest, rivers, swamps, lakes and volcanic craters is home to an incredible array of wildlife. You will go on an early morning game drive, where you will have the opportunity to view the massive Rwenzori as a backdrop. There will be excellent opportunities to spot lion, leopard, giant forest hog, Cape buffalo, elephant, defassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, topi and bushbuck. Game drives and boat cruises are wonderful ways to discover Uganda’s wildlife. Be sure to have your camera ready for these amazing sightings!

In the afternoon you will visit the bat and hunters cave where you can get up close with bats, rock pythons and forest cobras. The same walk will give you the chance to see birds and primates. Return to the lodge for dinner and your last overnight stay.

Day 8: Queen Elizabeth National Park - Bwindi Impenetrable Forest(Uganda safaris & tours)

After breakfast you will pack your bags and head off on a morning game drive through the Ishasha plains, where you will visit the lions and other wildlife that that call Queen Elizabeth home for the last time. From here you will make your way to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, driving through the area known as the “Switzerland of Africa”. You will arrive in the park in the evening and check into the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 9: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park(Uganda safaris & tours)

After breakfast you will make your way to the starting point of your gorilla trekking adventure. You will be led by experienced gorilla trackers onto the slopes of the nearby volcanoes in search of this amazing primates. Your journey will begin where the gorillas were encountered the previous day. Although the hike can be physically demanding, the anticipation of the exciting experience ahead will keep you going! The beauty of the gorilla forest and its inhabitants is breathtaking. Encountering these gentle giants is one of Africa’s major highlights.

Follow the mountain gorillas as they range freely in the impenetrable forest. Discover their gorgeous natural habitual and the many species they share it with. You are allowed to spend one hour with the gorillas before making your way back the lodge. If your trek was relatively short, you may take a guided nature walk around the lodge and surrounding communities in the evening.

Day 10: Bwindi Forest - Lake Bunyonyi(Uganda safaris & tours)

After breakfast you will drive to Lake Bunyonyi, which has breathtaking scenery. Spend the night overlooking Uganda’s deepest lake, where you may try your hand at paddling in a dugout canoe or eating fresh water crayfish. The name Bunyonyi means "the place of little birds", and it definitely lives up to its name!

Bunyonyi Overland Resort sites on the lake’s shore and offers you a great base from which to explore the lake. It is also wonderful stop-over for those visiting the mountain gorillas in Rwanda or Uganda. The resort is ecologically built with local materials and is locally owned and operated. It provides important employment opportunities for the people around the lake.

Lake Bunyonyi has no bilharzia (parasitic worm), no crocodiles and no hippos. Due to its altitude malaria is also rather scarce. You could hardly find a friendlier body of water on our continent!

Day 11: Lake Bunyonyi - Lake Mburo National Park(Uganda safaris & tours)

After breakfast you will travel to Lake Mburo National Park, the smallest park in Uganda. Although small, this park has so much to offer. It is centered on a series of swamp-fringed lakes and is full of rich bird life. The green acacia woodland harbors wildlife such as zebra, warthog, eland and impala. The lake itself is home to schools of hippos and crocodiles!

You will arrive at the lodge in time for lunch. Later in the afternoon you will enjoy a boat ride on Lake Mburo and get quite close to the crocodiles and hippos. As you make your way back to the lodge you may take part in evening game drive.

Day 12: Lake Mburo - Kampala(Uganda safaris & tours)

After breakfast you will go on a safari walk under the escort of an armed ranger. Due to cattle herding in the area it is amusing to see zebra peaceably grazing alongside the long horned Ankole cattle. It is exciting to approach wildlife at such close range. Depending on your departure time you can go on a city tour and visit the craft markets before transferring to the airport to catch your flight back home.
